Pinetop Library Outings Bring Learning, Creativity, and Community Together

For members of Lexington Services, Pinetop Library outings can be about much more than books. Regular visits to Pinetop Library in Lakeside, Arizona, give members opportunities to explore new ideas, participate in hands-on activities, spend time together, and experience learning in a welcoming community setting.
During a recent visit, members explored two very different topics: dinosaurs and the American flag. Each offered opportunities to learn, create, and have a little fun along the way.
Hands-On Learning During Pinetop Library Outings
The dinosaur theme gave members the chance to explore their creativity through interactive activities and projects. They colored dinosaur illustrations, participated in hands-on learning, and even brought the theme to the table with dinosaur-shaped waffles.
It was an opportunity to turn a topic into an experience.
Rather than simply hearing or reading about something new, members could create, participate, and enjoy the subject together. Activities like these can help make learning feel approachable while encouraging curiosity and imagination.
And judging by the smiles around the table, the dinosaur waffles were a pretty popular part of the experience too.
Exploring the Meaning Behind the American Flag
Members also spent time learning about the American flag, including the meaning behind its stars, stripes, and colors.
Creative activities gave members a hands-on way to engage with what they were learning. By combining conversation with art and interactive projects, the group was able to explore the topic in a way that was both educational and enjoyable.

Everyone Can Participate in Their Own Way
One of the most important parts of experiences like these is that participation does not have to look the same for everyone. Some members may immediately jump into an activity, while others need a little more time to become interested or comfortable participating.
During this visit, even members who were not initially excited about an activity eventually found ways to become involved and enjoy the experience. That matters.
